3 plus-size patterns? Well, better than nothing. The pattern book that takes the cake, in my opinion, is Twinkle’s Big City Knits. It is a knitting book by a designer who knits VERY expensive things out of super, super bulky yarn. And her ‘large’ size is a 34 inch bust. Somebody feed those poor girls!!!!! It is about the most useless knitting book I have ever seen.

Love the book Big Girl Knits. Hope they get Big Girl Knits 2 out soon.

I’m always disappointed in VK. I’m a very busty gal, and there’s tons of things out there that would still look great, if they’d just size up. I’m not skilled enough in sewing to do so, and since there’s so little out there I’ve been uninspired to jump into clothing. Sigh. I did manage to make a cardigan there, though; from an issue a few summers ago. It looks great, or will once I finish seaming it and sew in the zipper. And re-knit the collar. And fix the length of the sleeves. And probably a dozen other things…

plus size!!!! my ass!!!!! but they are cute, just not sure that I would make them… I just recently learned on OPRAH that the boxy, long turtle neck is SO NOT SLIMMING. that first sweater is an oprah no no. I have subscribed to INTERWEAVE KNITS , I have seen some old issues but haven`t gotten the new one yet….. the great thing about knitting magazines is the variety and the inspiration. I always have lots to knit, but when I find something EXCITING , it`s so much more fun. Looking forward to more from your blog.

Great blog! I’m so glad to have you to sort through the magazines looking for worthwhile patterns for me. And I’m always up for a crazy-person contest.

I’d love for you to think about posting the sock patterns you find for big feet! I have size 11 Fred Flintstone feet and while I’ve found a few, I’m always looking for more patterns. I like the ones that are either already sized for big feet, or are easy to modify without needing a calculator, graph paper, and 4 Advils.

Finally! I am so glad to have found this blog! WhooHoo! Big girls are not only crafty, but stylish too! I am finding some New Look patterns that are ok for me (size 16/18). I’m getting ready to make a wrap dress & tunic top this weekend. Check my blog for the results!

And I’d be glad to share how well they fit. Not only am I a bigger gal, I’m 6 foot tall Thank you again! What a great idea for a blog!

Hmm. The words ‘close fitting’ in any pattern send chills down my spine. I’m sure the last thing anyone with lumps and bumps would want is to wear something close fitting.

The floral dress. Well. Surely there were some kind of hallucinogenic drugs going round the VK office at the time!?!?!?

I don’t subscribe to knitting magazines but buy them individually when I come across one that looks inspiring.

unfortunately for all of us the skinny jeans and leggings are coming back. no offense to the fashion industry (well this time anyway) but I will stick with my bootcut jeans as long as I can find them. however, I do like making leg-warmers for my teenage sister to wear over her skinny jeans.

I don’t know if I’d knit any of the Vogue patterns, but the jacket is pretty. I do like the intarsia on the dress but it doesn’t go up to a large enough size to make it comfortable on an ample figure. I would probably buy the magazine and use the charts for something else.
My favorite knitting magazine is Knitter’s, as many of their patterns are for ample knitters. It
is the only mag that I subscribe to. I get pattern ideas from a lot of websites, but the only ones that I’ve bought from are Just one More Row and White Lies Designs.
Please post links as you find them, for both patterns and yarn sources, especially online ones. Also, thanks for starting this blog.
