12 Sites with Plus-Size Sewing Patterns

February28

Some of these are modern styles. Some, not so much. It just depends on your fashion preference.

Sites with Plus-Size Sewing Patterns

  1. Simplicity Plus Sizes - I love the Khalia Ali collection. They also have some Threads plus-size patterns.
  2. Burda Plus
  3. Vogue - Today’s Fit by Sandra Betzina - Stock up on these at Joann this Friday and Saturday, March 2nd and 3rd. $3.99 each!
  4. McCalls Large Sizes - these are also on sale at Joann this Friday and Saturday - $1.99 each! I always stock up when they have a sale like this.
  5. Butterick Large Sizes
  6. Hot Patterns - With most patterns, their size numbers are about 8 sizes larger than your ready-to-wear size. These are closer to ready-to-wear sizes, so don’t be discouraged by the max size of 26. Check their charts.
  7. My Sister’s Patterns - Not my sister! That’s just the name of the site. I only have a brother and believe me, he knows nothing about sewing.
  8. Sew Grand
  9. Petite Plus by Cathleen Cheetham - patterns also for sale at The Sewing Place.
  10. Fashion Patterns by Connie
  11. Sew Mama Sew - This isn’t really a clothing pattern site - more of a fabric site. But they have two plus-size vintage-type patterns: Kitchennette Pajamas and 1953 Wrap Blouse Clarification: Kristen from Sew Mama Sew says the size D is 49–55″ bust and 43–49″ waist. Hooray for us! She’s temporarily out of stock of the larger sizes (as of March 1st) but should have them in a week or so.
  12. Plus Size Bras

Thanks Jennifer! There were quite a few on here I hadn’t seen before or forgot about. I love that wrap shirt pattern on sew mama sew.

Thanks, I’m glad they were useful! I like that wrap shirt too. I’m so ready for that Joann sale - that’s where I buy all of my patterns. I miss the old 99 cent Simplicity sales they used to do.

I know! Those sales are great! But sadly, I’m about 90 miles from the closest Jo’s :(

I also just ordered Ottobre design magazine…I can’t wait for it to arrive. I’ll have to email you some pictures, when it gets here.

Hello! I am also a plus sized gal and have great news on buying patterns cheaply-from me! I work outside my home and have been selling online for years and this spring started my own website. I was so so fortunate to be able to purchase an entire chain store’s Simplicity and McCall’s pattern inventory after they had decided to close their sewing and craft section. I work out of my house so my storage is limited! I have approximately 2,000 patterns I am adding to my website and NO pattern is over $3.00 plus shipping (which is never over 2.00). Combined that is such a savings compared to anywhere! I was able to get the patterns at a reasonable cost and am so glad I can pass on the savings. I do have patterns in the Khalia Ali collection(aren’t they wonderful?),McCall’s Womanstyle, “threads magazine” collection and more. I currently have 70 patterns in the Plus size section and adding more daily. Thank you for your wonderful site and thanks for reading.

I am a SSBBW (I wear size 28-32 in RTW) and solved the problem of finding patterns (and clothing, for that matter) that fit properly by buying pattern drafting software. If you only want single patterns, you can find them for about $20 — otherwise, the full-blown Patternmaster Boutique program I have cost about $200 — and once you figure out how to give the computer the right measurements to make it draft the patterns properly, you will always have a well-fitting wardrobe. There is nothing like the joy of a perfectly fitting garment, and us plus-sizers need that more than anybody else.

I didn’t actually find anything free. Patterns are very expensive in Canada but then the clothes they sell at Additonelle and Pennigtons are outrageous.

I just wish we had an Evans and that Simple Be (a Euiro online plus size cothing store) would ship to Canada.

Plus size clothes in North America really suck most of the time and I tell the sales clerks that. I don’t want something that was just upsized from a the scrawny rack and I don’t want frumpy ugly stuff I wouldn’t ask a hobo to wear. If you don’t know Evans or Simple Be here are there websites, though if you live in NA, you can’t get the stuff so it’s kind of like torturing yourself.
